Description

It’s all very simple stuff (which is even more evident in the limited two player local-only no-bot versus mode, which also features characters from the films), but it keeps the flow of the game moving. You can never upgrade if you want and just coast by on pure skill and swift dodging. Or you can embrace the power fantasy and notch-up whatever elements of Starkiller you like playing with. There are a few limiters in place, like linking the dash system to a meter so you can’t spam it, but when coupled with a generous double jump, traversal is generally easy-going: though some of the platforming portions are very 2000s-era pointless and will no doubt still garner some detractors. Begin by crossing the bridge and testing out your force-powers on the nearby wookies (remember, the Storm Troopers are your allies!) - experiment with tossing them to the side, or throwing them into obstacles. Afterward, you’ll find a large wooden gate impedes your progress - unleash a charged "Force Push" to destroy it and continue on. Get through the second gate, and enter a room where you must fight one of the Emperor’s royal guards. In the room with the Wookie on the wall, to the left is what appears to be Jar-Jar Bink, frozen in Carbonite, as well as some other memorable characters from the Star Wars movies such as the eye of the creature that was in the trash compactor with Luke, and the little creature that sat next to Jabba the Hutt. Boss - Ozzik Sturn As soon as you've destroyed the second post, an AT-ST will appear. But you should be used to taking these guys on now. So long as you've taken down the nearby enemies, he shouldn't give you any trouble. Simply get behind him, jump, and lightsaber his head repeatedly. VanOrd, Kevin (October 27, 2010). "Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II Review". GameSpot . Retrieved November 1, 2010. Unfortunately, developer LucasArts often fails to string these amazing moments together long enough to keep the momentum going. The impressive physics work quite well in huge, open areas like a TIE Fighter facility. The action gets problematic at almost any other time, however, and the hyperactive physics become almost as much of a liability as an asset. This becomes more apparent as Force Unleashed's targeting foibles come more clearly into focus. The targeting is loose, which makes it incredibly easy to grab something other than what you intended, and even easier to throw it at something other than into its actual mark. In the most claustrophobic areas, this might mean flinging an exploding barrel into yourself, throwing it into nothing at all, or targeting a completely immovable item--which then begs the question why the game let you target it with force grip in the first place. And as is the case with many third-person action game cameras, getting in a smaller space means claustrophobic camera angles that cause you to lose perspective of the bigger picture. This is more of a problem here than in most games, though, because Force Unleashed chooses a target not based on the direction the player is facing via the camera, but which direction Starkiller is facing. That's fine in large environments, when there is more camera maneuverability. Otherwise, it becomes a frustrating paradox of ideas: In confined areas, Force Unleashed requires greater player precision, but makes it more difficult to be precise.

To me, this game just feels not like a Wii game ported to the Switch, but something worse. Like a terrible mobile game, ported to the Wii, then ported to the Switch with minimal effort. a b c d VanOrd, Kevin (18 September 2008). "The Force Unleashed PSP Review". GameSpot. Following the commercial success of its predecessor, a sequel was formally announced at the Spike Video Game Awards. [14] The game was released for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Nintendo Wii consoles, as well as the Nintendo DS and iOS portable devices. [3] A version was initially developed for the PlayStation Portable, but was cancelled for undisclosed reasons. [15] The Force Unleashed II was released in North America on October 26, 2010, in Australia on October 27, 2010 and in Europe on October 29, 2010. [16] [17] [18] Writing [ edit ] Overall then, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed gets a positive review from me for at least trying to keep the spin-off franchise alive. If you’re after a decent Star Wars experience with an entertaining story, then this will tide you over. Again, shame they couldn’t port the better ones, but in terms of continuity and technical aspects, the Wii version makes sense. Even if it has aged worse than Palpatine’s reveal in the The Rise of Skywalker. Just after the acidic walkway (where you lowered the overhangs), you'll soon overlook a vast field with a crashed ship. Before dropping down, look for a Holocron to the left worth 10,000 Force Points!a b c d "Star Wars: The Force Unleashed". 360. Metacritic. Archived from the original on 2009-04-20 . Retrieved 2009-07-25. In the Tie Fighter assembly room, climb a ramp on the left (just in front of the energy field) and look for a Holocron between the four glowing reactors for a Force Power Sphere. Force Unleashed's art direction sparkles and glows, injecting brooding, rich color into every environment--even corridors and control rooms. The junkyards of Raxus Prime are most notable in this regard, but other locales, both familiar and new, are beautifully lit and feature lightly stylized textures and other subtle touches. It's Star Wars, all right, but like the story, the art direction surpasses franchise standards. The graphics engine renders this artistic vision (along with the game's overactive physics) well enough, but it often struggles to keep up. Visual bugs, momentary pauses, and frame rate drops are relatively common, and somewhat more prevalent in the PlayStation 3 version. We encountered instances of blinking textures, incomplete geometry, and on the PS3, multiple occasions when enemy character models would immediately disappear upon defeat. It's certainly beautiful to look at, but throw in weirdly long load times just to pull up menus and jarring cutscene transitions, and you start to see the corners that were cut. Dark Horse's The Force Unleashed graphic novel was published August 18, 2008. [73] Newsarama called the graphic novel a "solid story" that matches the video game source material in both structure and plot. [74] IGN gave the graphic novel a score of 6.9/10 (6.4/10 for art, 7.5/10 for the writing), praising the overall story but faulting inconsistency in the art and questioning whether the comic medium was the best way to convey the story. [75] Merchandise [ edit ]Just after using Force Lightning on the engine, drop down and head left. Raise the circular bridge, then leap to the Holocron in an alcove embedded in the platform ahead for 10,000 Force Points. Scalzo, John (May 28, 2010). Immediately grab the Sith Holocron on the right for unlimited force energy, and use it to pummel the unfortunate enemies. When finished, continue through the hallway near the entrance.
