When something is too good to be true, they should have been more wary, but they move in without a second thought.
The House by Christina Lauren | Goodreads
I found this book hard to follow in parts as it was written as diary entries from two different people. All in all, this was a really good read, I wasn't spooked at all but my curiosity was definitely piqued pages after pages and I thoroughly enjoyed the adventure. I was trying to force myself to finish it for the sake of reading all of their books but I just had to give up. She is determined to get Gavin away from the possessed house, even if it means risking her own life to do so.
The Housemaid: An absolutely addictive psychological thriller
I'm just simply saying that, to a certain degree, the 'feeling' of this story reminded me of it -- in a good way. I find psychological thrillers a hit or miss affair, this is a hit in every sense, I can see this being a bestseller, and deservedly so. It's a big rambling old house, and although it needs lots of work, they got a really good deal because the owner wanted a young couple to have it, and accepted their lower bid. I cannot say enough good things about Lelic's command of language and the conversational tone of his prose.Eventually a body is found at their back door, but not before plenty of other things happen that take the book down a different path entirely.
